Christians Against Poverty Redruth Debt Centre

Together with three other local churches, Redruth Baptist Church is pleased to have partnered with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to provide award-winning free debt-counselling and support to everyone within the Camborne - Pool - Redruth area who needs help with personal debt.

We are able to deal with all the paperwork and through CAP Head Office negotiate with creditors to agree a plan for debt repayment which gives our clients the opportunity and help they need to become debt free.

As Christians, in addition to offering practical help and debt advice, we are also able to provide spiritual support and help through sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Below, Our Debt Centre Manager, Teresa Bailey, shares her story:

I felt broken in my mid 20s. Some months later I was saved one night. I moved to London and later worked for a church, and started a Bible study on Saturdays with friends and then I worked doing more Christian outreach in London, making more friends and sharing Jesus with them. I moved back to Cornwall with my young family. I later worked for the CAB and now at RBC with CAP.

I had a difficult marriage. However, without this trial I might never have known that I was carrying an idol from childhood and found freedom. Also, I know Jesus is with me. We can listen to others instead of listening to the Lord and it won't end well.

1 John 2:6. Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked. Though imperfect, we still go and we get healing as we go. Many do not 'go' whatever 'go' means for them and they aren't very changed.

Some years ago, the Lord told me that He wants His glory to go throughout the land, which He will do whether I see it or not. It was a special moment. I hold onto this knowing that though we meet people who are struggling, Jesus can help as He has helped me and I seek Him to move.

Isaiah 61.1-3. Jesus brings good news to the poor, binds up the broken hearted, freedom for captives. I seek the Lord to free those that are captive by addiction, idolatry, fear, are abused or abusers. It's a privilege to share Jesus with those who feel hopeless. Whatever we do for the poor we do for Him. When a work situation is difficult, we're to trust and obey and do our job, loving others, and drawing closer in relationship to Jesus.
